Do I have to go to court?
The Quick Answer
You will need to attend a short hearing about 4-6 weeks after you file.
The Long Answer
About two weeks after you file your bankruptcy petition you should receive a notice in the mail from the court. The notice will tell you that a bankruptcy has been filed, and will also tell you the date it was filed, your case number, and the date, time and location of your hearing. Typically, the hearing will be 4-6 weeks after your bankruptcy case is filed.
